I’m a runner and get tired of untangling myself from the cords of my headphones. I also don’t like having to remember to charge not only the case to my earbuds, but the earbuds themselves. What Is Bone Conduction?
The easiest way to explain it is that sound is made up of vibrations. Bone conduction technology takes these vibrations and passes them through our bones such as cheekbones and jaw bones. This bypasses the eardrum and passes the vibrations straight to the cochlea which transfers it into sound.
Ludwig Van Beethoven was the one who discovered bone conduction when he used a metal tube to bite on when playing piano. This method allowed him to hear the notes as they were made up of vibrations. Scientists have taken this method and now have created technology that allows everyone to experience bone conduction on the comfort of their run.
Are Bone Conduction Headphones Better?
There are multiple benefits to bone conduction headphones. Most individuals purchase them in order to workout without blocking out important background sound. Such as other runners and even animals. Will Anyone Else Be Able To Hear What I Am Listening To?
Technically no. If you are using them while running or other forms of working out, the chances of someone hearing isn’t likely. I personally love that they can connect to several devices of mine with easy switching. But I wouldn’t use them for my gaming at home when I need to hear every movement.
