College is a busy time for all students, and finding time in your schedule for your beauty routine can be difficult. To avoid having to skip on sleep in order to get ready each day, here are seven tips to make your beauty routine time efficient.

Organize Your Make Up Collection

Save yourself precious minutes each morning by organizing your makeup and hair products. If you have to dig through your makeup bag to find each product, it’s going to eat away your time. With your products organized, you won’t waste time searching. Clean up your bathroom counters and organize your drawers so that everything is easy to find. If you’re really crunched for time, try laying out all the products you’ll need in the morning before you go to bed so that they’re all ready to go the next day.

Use the Bare Minimum

It’s fun to experiment with different makeup products and looks, but doing it before class probably isn’t the best time to create new looks. Create a daily look that you like and that doesn’t take much time to apply. Aim to make it under ten minutes. Five is even better. To do this probably means foregoing some products. Decide what you need to do every day to get ready, and leave the rest for the weekends or a night out. If you’re comfortable going out wearing just mascara and lip gloss, then so be it.

Skip the Hair Wash

Good hygiene is important, but hair doesn’t need to be washed every day. In fact, doing so can dry out your hair. Save yourself time in the shower by alternating which days you wash your hair. Invest in some dry shampoo to absorb oils between washes. If your hair looks imperfect, put it up in a bun or ponytail rather than leaving it down. This will hide the greasy look until you have time to wash it later.

Brush Your Hair in the Shower

When you do wash your hair, detangle it during the conditioner stage. This makes it easier to comb through, and will you save you time getting ready. Braid your hair before bed to prevent it from tangling during the night. This will also give your hair a nice wave and save you time styling it in the morning.

Take Care of Your Skin

Make sure to moisturize, use sun screen, and take care of your health so that your skin stays clear and healthy. If you don’t need to apply a full face of foundation every day, it will save you time. Even if you do want to use foundation every day, having hydrated skin will make the foundation apply smoother, and save you time with your make up routine.

Know Your Skin Tone

When buying foundation, concealer, blush, and other skin products, know which tone works best for you. This way, when you apply it, you won’t have to spend long minutes trying to blend the wrong color in so it looks natural. If you can’t find the exact shade of foundation that matches your skin, try mixing shades together to create your own custom color. This also works with concealer and other skin products.

Buy Multipurpose Products

Buying products that can be used for more than purpose, for instance lipstick can be used as blush, and brown mascara and be used as an eyebrow tint. Not only will this save you money, but will help prevent a buildup of products, saving you space and time, since you won’t have as many products to dig through when searching for an item.
