Most moms find it difficult to get time to themselves or avoid feeling overwhelmed by their busy schedule each day. They have so much to do and so much to plan. Fortunately, all they need to do is to take 15 minutes for themselves. Here are just a few of the benefits of taking some “me time” before your kids get up and even some ideas of what you can do with that time.
Enjoy Quiet Time
For many moms, it can be easy to get up and go the minute the alarm goes off each morning. Some moms start their days stressed out because they feel like they are constantly going from the moment that they open their eyes. By getting into full-speed mode the moment you wake up can make it difficult to have a chance to breathe and avoid stress during the day. By waking up early, you can get some very much deserved time to yourself. You can use this time to read a book, do yoga, write in a journal or whatever else will help you to relax and let go just a little bit. Through relaxation early on in the morning, you can build up some energy that will carry you the rest of the day.
Get Ahead of the Day
If you get up at the same time as your kids, it can be easy to forget about making lunches or catching up on emails before the day gets started. Getting a head start on your schedule is the best way to make sure that you get to all of the things that you need to get done. Use this time to do those things that are best done while your kids aren’t running all over. Such things could be laundry, dishes or any other chore that is too much of a hassle when you have little ones involved. However, it’s important to make sure that you focus on yourself during this time too. One way that you can do that is to catch up on your favorite TV shows while doing such things.
Another thing that you could use this time for is to write in a daily planner or calendar. You can use it to make sure that you stay on top of all appointments and errands that need to be made throughout the day or week. If you’re planner involves multiple family members’ plans, then make sure that it is easily accessible to everyone. Some people like to put such information on a giant calendar that they put up on the fridge.
Moms who are drained and exhausted can feel rewarded with a delicious latte or tea that can be made to include different flavors using special syrups, like those from Monin, during the week. Consider using pumpkin spice, vanilla, or hazelnut to indulge in a beverage that helps you to look forward to waking up each day. Doing this will allow you to snap out of your morning fatigue to ensure that you have the energy to make breakfast, get everyone ready for school, go to work and do whatever else motherhood duties call you to do. This is also a great option for those moms who live in very cold places in the winter. Take the opportunity to cozy up with your favorite blanket, listen to some music and drink some warm deliciousness during the winter months.
Although it can be easy to want to hit the snooze button after waking up each morning, you can prepare for the day just by simply getting up before the kids. By having alone time and a few minutes of quiet solitude, it will be easier to avoid stress or anxiety as you juggle all of your responsibilities.
